Name That Temp

August 11, 2009

This is why I hate gas ovens. There is NO temperature mark on the dial, so it’s just a wild guess what the actual oven temperature is. So far, it’s been working but it always freaks me out. I hear they actually make gas ovens with a real temperature setting, but I have yet to see one.

The dial to the far right is the oven “temperature”. What temp would you say that is?

    And I have absolutely no clue about this Fahrenheit madness!
    For what I’ve discovered:
    350= horno mínimo
    400= horno mediano
    500= horno máximo

    As a rule… cakes go mínimo, a savory pie mediano, and a chicken máximo.

    Thanks for the estimate! That totally helps. I am just used to more exact recipes and ovens, though recent results have all been successful.

    I just came across this site. I now WORSHIP Shirley!! Hope this is helpful to you:

    Our oven is finicky and also a gas oven. We bought a temp gauge that hangs on one of the bars. It has helped a lot. I guess you could think of it in terms of flame size. Lots of times a recipe will state, low flame or high flame.
