Compulsive shopping

Some women have a compulsive shoe-buying habit. Others have a thing for purses.

I am a compulsive plant buyer.

It’s so tempting. There’s a plant shop next to the dry cleaners, and another right next to our apartment building. So every time I leave home, I have to walk by gorgeous new plants that appear to arrive fresh each day.

This week, I was eyeing the electric blue lobelia and the delicate alyssum in tiny little pots. I held off all week.

Until today, when I had to take some things down to the cleaners and ended up buying, among other things, one lavender and one oregano plant. They’re gorgeous:

Herbs are the best. They’re out on the balcony now.
