Religion gifting
With all this talk about ID documents, I remembered when I went to immigration in Guadalajara for my first FM3 visa in Mexico. There were all these questions that they made note of, like maximum level of education, facial characteristics, marital status…and religion. This was all written down within the document.
When the guy asked me what was my religion, I said I didn’t have one. He said he couldn’t put that down, so he was just going to put Catholic. I said he couldn’t do that, because I wasn’t Catholic. So he just sat there trying to figure out what to put. I suggested that in the same way that he put BEARD: “does not use” he could put RELIGION: “none.”
He was totally unsatisfied with that, but typed it in anyway.
Sometimes, when you least expect it, you might be gifted a religion. I thought you had to be baptized for that, but apparently not.
