Latest Scarves
Since it’s been a month or so since I updated with photos of my knitting projects, I thought I’d add a couple of recent photos. The issue is that, despite my vast experience taking self-photos, I still tend to look like a deer caught in the headlights in most of the self- photos I take. I tried to include the best here.
To the left is my violet scarf I made with a different color of the same yarn I used for A’s brown poodle scarf a couple of months back. See my compost bin in the background? Wasn’t that a lovely addition to the scarf photo?
Last July 21st was my birthday, and as mentioned, A took me to the yarn district here in Buenos Aires. Two of the skeins of yarn I bought were kind of crazy, but I loved the colors and just had to get them.
Of course, I made a scarf, because I still haven’t gotten beyond that (I’ve been working on some socks, but simple scarves are such a no-brainer that I enjoy them for relaxing ).
It’s an eyelash kind of yarn, which I had been wanting to get, but hadn’t been able to find. I absolutely love the colors in it, both in as it came (right) and when I balled it up (below).
On a side note, when I brought in the finished scarf to show my teacher, I discovered how to say eyelash yarn in Spanish: pelo de mono, or monkey’s hair. Never would have guessed that one.
The finished product is below. I absolutely love the way the colors work together, and even though I didn’t manually stripe it, it almost looks like I did, the way the colors change.
I took several photos of myself in it, and they were all deer-in-headlights photos, so I just cropped myself out of them and here you go:
Can you kind of see the striped effect? Love it!!
Now I’m working on two scarves for gifts, and I’ll post once they’re finished and have been gifted!
I just previewed this post, and absolutely love the colors in all the photos.
The poodle scarf looks soft and you do not have a deer in the headlights look! I also like the lavender color, but the light blue in the M de U scarf really has my eyes popping!
Hi there Michelle! The poodle scarf is so soft and fluffy. I’m so bummed that the place where I buy my yarn ran out of it. It was all leftovers from last year. The light blue/turquoise is pretty bright. Even when I wear it with all black, I feel like I really stand out. It takes getting used to.
The scarves are beautiful, the colors are amazing, and you look wonderful! Lucky it is cool enough there to need one to wear.
Scarfs are super pretty… and you absolutely don’t look like a deer caught in the headlights…! although it made me laugh a lot
Thanks Mom! I don’t think I ever actually wore a scarf in CA. Here, the humidity makes it feel colder than it actually is.
Thanks Julia! Though I didn’t upload the best deer photos. I’ll have to look for one.
A “Yarn District” sounds wonderful! The colors are delicious–and I love that the yarn is “pelo de mono” in Spanish–I am learning Spanish, and I will add that to my vocabulary. I knit mostly scarves, as I too find them very relaxing.
The Yarn District is fabulous. I must go again, even if it’s just to look.
I’m so happy to hear you mostly knit scarves! I thought I was just being lazy and not wanting to learn new things. Which I do, but scarves are fun.
When I read this on my BB the tiny letters make “yarn district” look like “yam district”, and right now yams sound mighty tasty…
YUM! Yams do sound tasty. I haven’t had one since my trip up to the US last November.
I see why you bought the yarn. I love the colors too.
You are so beautiful.
Thanks Purplume! I’m so happy you’re back so I can comment on your posts once again!! Hugs!
