Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Soy Sauce

December 13, 2010

I had purchased some British brussels sprouts on one of our first trips to the grocery store, not because either of us really felt like eating brussels sprouts, but more because they were British, and I was feeling more than a little guilty about purchasing non-local produce. I was planning to oven roast them with some balsamic vinegar, but when I got back to the studio where we were staying, I realized I hadn’t yet purchased any…so I decided to go with some soy sauce instead. They were delicious.

Ingredients:

Brussels sprouts
Olive oil
Soy sauce
Salt & Pepper

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. Clean brussels sprouts, and cut in half. Place on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and soy sauce. Grate salt and pepper over them. Roast for about 6-7 minutes. See how easy?

Of course, you can also do them the traditional way, with balsamic vinegar. They’re delicious both ways.

Enjoy!

Always love a new and easy way for brussel sprouts ;) sounds easy and yummy.

I recently made them by tearing the leaves off ( a bit tedious) but worth it, and then saute in olive oil and garlic, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and once they have wilted add some cut up tomatoes or cherry tomatoes for a minute till they almost burst. xo

My traditional way is to steam them and add apple cider vinegar. I liker this idea of oven baking.

That sounds really good. I think my mother used to make them like that, or similar. I remember they were definitely steamed rather than baked, and she used some kind of vinegar. They were delicious.

I just bought some more yesterday, on the stalk. The loose ones were from Holland, the ones on the stalk British. So I had to go for those!
